Creosotewind 05-Jun-11 13:11 One of the plot points in the movie "The Story of GI Joe", with Burgess Meredith as Ernie Pyle, was a sergeant trying to fix a Victrola so he could listen to a recording of his child's first words, all while the platoon was trying to take the monastery at Cassino in Italy. The mud, rain, blood and battle was taking its toll on the men. When he finally heard the recording, he cracked. A very emotional scene in a really compelling movie.
