I built one of these a few months ago and as I was building it I thought the kit was perfect for conversion to RC. As I continued to build, I kept thinking the big wing, light structure and plenty of space in the fuselage make this kit an ideal RC plane. After seeing this, I'm back on ebay looking for another Comet Hellcat. Great work! |

The plane looks great! My wife says that we were probably seperated at birth, it really is an incredible likeness! Did people always confuse you with Paul Newman too? I have that Grumman Comet in my closet too. How many channels? |

Nobody has evere said I resemble Paul Newman, until now; That's a nice complement. About the only thing I have in common with Paul Newman is that we both raced Triumph sports cars. The Hellcat model has 4 channels. If you look at the build thread you'll notice some beef up of the wing. Although the structure looks light the model has proven rugged, 13 flights and 4 crashes and still going strong. |

TR-4A? Don't tell me you were at lime Rock? Anyhow, the pictures of the Hellcat are inspirational. Do you have a schematic that shows major components installed? Or is there a reference you'd recommend? |

Never at Lime Rock, I drove a Spitfire 1500 locally here in St. Louis. My son races a track only GT 6. I don't have a schematic of the equipment installation but you can get some idea from the early pictures in the build. If I were to do it again I'd move the servos foward about 2 inches since it wants to fly with the CG pretty far forward, balances at about 3/4 inch aft of the leading edge at the wing tips. |
