SteveM | 04-Apr-09 19:00 | Clear, calm, cold, and about an hour before anyone else shows up to fly. They all flew fine and I only broke two of three props. I had the Aero-Star at full throttle and high rates doing rolls, loops, and Immelmann turns, then I came down for a touch and go but caught the prop on the runway and so much ice flew off I thought I had broken something (other than the prop). After I got home I changed the wheels on the Aero-Star and have almost 3/4" more ground clearance which should help with the prop breakage. |
jgood | 04-Apr-09 19:14 | Ice flew off the airframe, or the runway? New markings on the AeroStar too, I see, looking good! |
SteveM | 04-Apr-09 19:17 | Off the prop, I should have taken a picture because some chucks were surprisingly thick. Probably not a problem you're apt to face any time soon. The decals do make it look better, thanks! |
David Duckett | 04-Apr-09 20:13 | Ice? |
SteveM | 04-Apr-09 20:40 | Yes, ice had built up on the prop of the Aero-Star. Probably a combination of the high-RPM flying and cold morning. I have seen icing on a cold and foggy morning, but there was no fog this morning. And yes to James not having to worry about ice. |
