This should be a great scratchbuild. i normally use Guillow's plan's and modify them to include certain plastic parts but otherwise use shett balsa and basswood to build kit. Unfortunately they do not have plans for a lot of planes. I have viewed pics of your Camel. Very nice. I would enjoy sharing model tips with you.

"Lettuce" hope this build will be as cool as the picture!

I just looked up the Mig-3 on Google images. It looks like a very cool plane. I can't wait to see it come out of that pile of wood.

In fact he has worked so much his joints are lose, perhaps a dab of CA to stiffen him a bit? He keeps falling down on the job!

OK John, you've got your MiG3 scratch built added to your hangar now. Looking forward to see it come to life!

Second keel in place....are we having fun yet?
John M Oshust, Image # 302829 May 07 21:20

The first keel. Sharp pencil, sharp eyes, sharp knife, and steady hands. I have two of the four! Made twoo to get the technique down. Basswood cuts as easy as balsa. Cut outside the line and then sand to the pencil line. Slow and steady, should be r

In this pile of basswood hides a Mig-3

Three sets of plans. Small for reference. Large to build the plane. Large #2 to slice up for pattern pieces.

Original Sthal plans, my, slightly, larger vesion.

That you sir, your history is correct. Most people think all Migs are jets! I lived in Siberia for 4 months, fortunately never in winter!!

This was the plane flown by A.V. Shlopov of 6IAK in 1942 for the Moscow Air Defence Zone. Nice plane serving mainly on the Leningrad front. MiG was short for Mikoyan-Gurevich and the MiG3 was built to replace the MiG1 which though built as a high altitude interceptor was totally inadequate. Good luck with the build.

DD, please be serious how do I list photos under Scartch Build? The 25 is super. I saw a silver one once rigged as a gunship fighter bomber.

Hit R for Russian and then S for scratch. Course the R could be for rubles, yuk, yuk, yuk. Siberia, indeed !!

The next build began tonite. Earl Sthall plans from 1943. I enlarged the plans a bit. This ship will be 25 inches long with a span of 34 inches. All scratch built. Question??? How to I enter this plane under the scratch built catagory?
