You hit it on the nose David. This mold Ted made is just fantastic. When he sent it to me it lined up perfect to the fuselage. The only thing I need to decide if I paint the wind screen black or light blue. |

That would be an understatement! |

That's good information David. I did not know that the kit canopy pieces did not match correctly, although I think that I have been told that the nacelles are undersized compared to their "firewalls". |

There are several things to consider here. The two clear plastic pieces for the canopy do not match correctly, the frames do not line up correctly. Even from a factory sealed box the canopy can be damaged and this one was. Ted has not been on the VA site for quite some time and there's no denying the quality of his molds but the plastic he used was extremely stiff and required some care when trimming to fit. I think the molded solid canopy will look just as good, if not better, than the clear one. When I had this kit I had already decided that if it were ever built it would have a solid nose. The one I actually did build, Night Prowler, also has some minor damage to its canopy. |

Thanks rayl, but Ted tried numerous times vacuum forming but said when the clear plastic dried, it was hard to take off the mold. I guess because of the shape and the window lines it was more complex. When it did finally release it cracked. I do have some samples that he made, but talking with Ted, I decided just to cast the piece and paint. And no, the nacelles are the plastic parts from the kit.

The Lego Blocks make super form boxes. How come you aren't vac-forming a clear nose over what appears to be an excellent master? Are those some cast nacelles that I see peaking out from behind the Legos?? |

Now we wait until it's cured then I'll cast a new nose. |

This will be a two part mold. |

Baseball season is over. Now back to building. Here is the wonderful mold that frywfler, Ted Richards made for me. The clear canopy was damaged severely so this will have a solid nose. |

A teaser while I wait for more rubber mold. |

Thanks Don. Yes, the computer room is now finished in a music theme. My son plays electic guitar while my daughter fools around with the keyboards. |
