Since almost everyone does the Flying Tigers, I thought of using this one. You can also.

I'm thinking of this one

I meant, "the Micro Fill that's in the container that I have."
sweetwillie, Comment for image # 668321 Feb 08 13:49
Yeah, John, it's almost 3" and I'll probably use it if I can't find something better, I just have to find a place to put the Micro lite container that I have. I don't have Micro fill, tower was out of it when I ordered. I'm assuming that they're the same size.

SW I just measured an MT Micro fill container looks like three inches to me!

OK! Now I see what you mean. Thanks John. Stay tuned.

When you make the struts laminate two thin pieces glue a wire pin or tab into each end of the strut. The wire or Al tab gives you "Wiggle" room to bend the strut to you liking.

I need a 3" cowl for this plane. Does anyone have any ideas. I've checked all the plastic bottles that I have around here, but, no luck.

John, thanks for your advice. Please, explain the use of the pins to attach them to the fuse and about pinning the struts to the wings. I'm can't visualize how it's done. Pardon my dumbness.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 668021 Feb 08 09:06
My suggestion...snip the existing struts off of the plane. Starting with the cabane struts make a new set of struts. Use music wire pins in the new struts to attached them to the fuse. Attach the wing to the cabane struts. Custom cut new wing struts and pin into place. A lot of work but better than starting over.

It would be a pity to not finish this beauty!

The proper dihederal wouldn't help on the cabane struts.
SteveM, Comment for image # 668020 Feb 08 23:45
Did you not add the proper dihedral?
sweetwillie, Comment for image # 668020 Feb 08 23:40
I've got a problem. I made these struts exactly according to the plans. I made very sure that the cuts were exact and that when I laid them on the plan, they were precise. the left wing struts are a good fit, but, as you can see, none of the others are even close. The wing has a warp to it. and I can't figure out how to make them fit. Can anyone help, or is it too flawed to fix?

Help!!!

What do you think, John O? The stripe turned out OK. Huh? Thanks to you for your tip of using the rubber bands. Since I had already put this model together before I found out about VA, I made a lot of mistakes with the framework, of which, I thought I could cover up with balsa sheeting, but I was wrong. Also, I tried to cover the upper wing in two sheets. That was a big mistake. But,I've still got the plans, maybe I'll get some more balsa and build it again, once I've gotten a lot better. I'm looking for something to put around the cockpit opening to repersent the leather, I'm looking for some plastic tubing, but all I've got is too large. The decals turned to dust when I put them in water. They're going to send me another set when I send them $2.00. I hope they're better than the ones that came with the kit. I see that I forgot to change the name of the plane. Sorry bout that!
