I just read this, DD, and chuckled. It does seem that the kit itself is often the smaller expenditure. :) |

One other thing, I lived across the road to Pax River NAS where they were testing the F35. Saw it quit often. I'm not impressed with it. One thing is, it is much louder than a Harrier by a factor of 10. |

Saturday was my first sighting of an F-22 and Sunday the first of an F-35. I absolutely believe you! Both afternoons the air was filled with some of the most unusual sounds I have ever heard from aircraft. I have no idea what they were doing but it sounded like a surround sound movie. Some of the sounds made no sense at all. It was wonderful!:-)) |

DD, I was at the Sun-N-Fun Airshows in Florida in 07. At my last job I worked for Titan Aircraft, a kit mfg of a 3/4 scale P51 known as a T51. I flew it to Airshows to display it and demo flights. While there the F22 performed a routine for the first time in public. What caught my attention was watching it holding south of the field flying formation with a P51 getting ready to perform a heritage pass. The 22would pull up vertical and hover vertical for 10 seconds. Then pitch forward and catch up to the P51. He did this 3or4times. If I hadn't viewed it with my own eyes it would be hard to believe. |

Well....not quite. Looks as if the nose landing gear door is missing. :( |
