I use small fuel line to simulate the landing gear. It is extremely flexible and slips easily onto the landing gerar wire after it is bent. I've now got to add strips fo masking take to simulate the hydraulic ridges. |

The sleek shape of the "Frank" is finally taking shape. The Hayate (Hurricane) in the hands of an experienced pilot could out fly both the Musttang and Hellcat. |

The engine cowling is built up with rings of balsa and was a bit of a job carvng and sanding to shape as well as cutting and shaping the air intake . You can see where the stringers must still be added to the fuselage. |

The major components are doped, sanded, and papered. The lower third of the fuselage will be papered after the wing has been added to the fuslelage and the l ower stringers are in place. |

The center section of the wing and center section of the fuselage where the wing fits is extremely strong and after a little trimming the wing fits perfectly. |

The balsa and the structure are lighter and much more fragile than building a Guilloes kit. Because of my hairy hands and thick fingers I've broken sections of stringers and had to replace them. |

With a coat of dope and one sanding done the main components are tacked together with masking tape to see how it looks. |

I added balsa filets on the wing tips rather than the stringers the plans called for. I think they look far better than stringes and paper. |

Fit is snug and with a little trimming/sanding the fit should be almost perfect. |

The fuselage and wings are built. I added stringers around the cockpit and on the top side of the wing. The center section of the wing was hard to follow the instructions, but was finally together. |

But the wood is extremely light and very delicate so I replaced the stringers with some left over Guillows stringers which are very tough. |

The fuselage formers and side longerons fit extremely well, but the woo |

Just think of the fun I had cutting out over a hundred parts. Of course there was also some sanding to smooth the cuttings. |

Never realized how hairy my hands are. The meaning of "print wood" says you are going to be cutting out each part, no die cut here. While it can be tedius, I rather enjoy it. |

The Diels Ki 84 Frank comes with print wood, strip wood, light tissue, vacu canopy, two sheets of plans, instructions and decals. |
