the light green base will make it easier to now paint on the dark green starting by carefully painting around the white borders on the meatballs.

Spinner tacked on to check the fit

These are the decals from the Guillows Rufe. I'veapplied them over a light green base and they have been sprayed with Krylon satin acrylic because paint doesn't adhere to a decal well at all.

I live out in the country and there are very few lights to interfere with the view at night. It is indeed pitch black and very clear. There are several very large telescopes nearby, Kitt Peak, the Smithsonian's Multiple Mirror complex on Mt. Wrightson, and another new complex over on Mt. Graham. I can see Kitt Peak from the yard and it's about 60 miles away.

You have to look closely at this one .... Was actually trying to wipe a white spot in the right upper part off the screen ... Seems to be pitch black where you live.

The bottom has been covered with heavy grade silkspan. The canard and fins are doped, filled, sanded, doped, filled, and sanded.

Not scale but they are the correct size, 1 1/8", for the main wheels. The nose wheel is the same GWS product being used on the P-40.

Retiring is like flying, it allows you to slip the surly bonds of work. Besides, this kind of thing doesn't happen in daylight. ;-) I have no schedule and there are no lights to interfere with the show, which is free. It fascinates me to watch the Moon as it moves through the sky, especially when this happens. Just a few months ago this was happening in the evening sky in the west. I can step outside now, 10:30 pm, and see the Milky Way. Even small binoculars will reveal stars you can't see and they are all larger than our Sun. Millions of them!

This is the correct size wheel and length of the front gear.

Pertty!Indeed

Scale schmale, it is the final product and its eye appeal that counts. With this you are a master!
David Duckett, Image # 1201520 Apr 09 17:36

Shinden-shape. I'm using decals from the Guillows Rufe which are too big to be scale. They also would not have the white outer circle but the meatballs are the only markings on a dark green plane and the white will really separate the colors. Scale and I don't always see eye to eye when it comes to paint and markings.

Yea, but you are doing it justice. Really looking good!
David Duckett, Comment for image # 1200520 Apr 09 10:57
Thanks. I'm following Jerry with this one. I like the Raiden he's building, too, but my next one is the more conventional F-86D.

I can't tell who builds the most unusual planes, you or Jerry C. This is looking great!
