| Yep, each of those B-1's cost 283 million bucks in 1998 dollars and they mothballed 33 of them. So that's basically $9.35 billion rusting away...I guess it's no TARP fund...but it is more than 3X the amount given out for Cash for Clunkers. :-) |

| Good point, Poppy. We all love aviation, obviously, but it's heart breaking to see all that money / effort (on that scale) in the bone yard. Makes me think that more of that money should have gone to more useful technological advancements for mankind, i.e. space exploration for getting us off this planet in case of large scale obliteration from asteroids or other natural phenomenon (or, I guess, natures self-limiting due to population expansion). |
