I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Williams Brothers used to make (now discontinued) dummy engines for use in gas and electric RC planes. They made the PW Wasp in a 1/12" scale, which this is. I just had to cut the cylinders down a bit - the engine is 4-1/4" dia. but the cowl on this model is only 4" dia..so I shortened the pistons and valve rods to make it fit. It was on an old Stearman kit that I had built years ago and recently got knocked off the shelf.

Very nice work/paint/build. What did you use for the motor?

I had to carve this prop from balsa as the mfg only supplied a plastic, rubber band style propeller with the kit. There was no drawing of a scale prop on the plans either - so reference photo's of the actual plane were used as a guide. I have made other rare attempts to carve props in the past with little or no success. This one came out alright though. I hope I can do it again for the Laird when the time comes..

I skinned the undersides of the wing with a 1/64" birch bendy ply material rather than infill. I also used that material to anchor the wing root fairing fillets. Since the airfoil was essentially flat on the bottom it seemed like both an easier and more time saving way to cover the bottom of the wing. I always keep this material on hand because it is so versatile and can handle tight radii

Hi Dave! thanks man - you have been and continue to be my inspiration. I LOVE the infill method and I cannot thank you enough for all you have done.

Thank you for the welcome, LastWoodsMan - I have been making these infill balsa models for about two years now..but I have built many plastic models over the years. Since I was a kid. Long time now

infill method - I first saw this technique on this board about two years ago..Dave Duckett's Stearman and Corsair builds. I became a fan of this forum and of Dave's at that moment.
