Painted and Futured and ready for decals. The camouflage paint was an experiment that may not be historiclally accurate, but was a successful experiment. In the future I will do differntly.

Beautiful job Jerry.

Nice craftsmanship!

The Tripe has a lot of wing to build. Most of the major components are now built, sanded and doped and are ready for paper.

I haven't decided on the paint scheme yet, but it's going to be a simple one, one that can be masked and airbrushed, Im no artist.

Jerry you've done beautiful work on past builds. This one is looking great and a fun one to load up with details. What paint scheme are you thinking about.

No I am not building it to fly, I barely can build to display.

so are you goign to make the kit RCable
mdmorgan37, Comment for image # 844223 May 08 12:27
great idea

Another exanple why I have copies of the plans made and cut them apart so I can work on smaller pieces of the plan.

The tail feathers and the fuselage are semi-finished, doped and sanded. I think I enjoy this part of the build the most.

I had ordered several kits from Pen Valley, including the Guillows Dr 1 and Herr D.Vll. The Tripe came but the D.Vll was back ordered and came several days later, or I might have built the D.Vll first. The D.Vll is more of a favorite.

I'm looking forward to building it, but looking at Barnstormer's and Supercruiser's finished Dr 1s I don't hope to compare.

I love this kit, its one i am hoping to add over the next few weeks.

Looking forwards to seeing this, Jerry. Must be one of the most popular Guillows' kits on VA.
jerry campbell, Image # 843521 May 08 13:03

By cuttig apart sections of the plans it makes it easier to work on various components.

with Guillow wood. I especially like Guillow's stip wood, it's stronger and doesn't break as easily as the lighter strip wood in Diels and other kits. This will be my first WWI airplane, I've not chosen a color scheme yet. I do not like the Guillow paper and will replace it with Eske tissue, which I began using in my first Diels build.

Kit contains a single sheet, two sided which I had copied so I could cut into pieces for easier work on my work board. The wood seems to be a little better than other guillow kits, but I've never had a big problem wih
