Search YouTube for domoremath. He is very good at FF RC in the city! He has a braiding video call...The Lost Art... He goes fast so if confused, wind 1 set of strands clockwise and temporarily hold on peg. Take 2nd set of strands and also wind clockwise. Take 1 set off peg and put on winder with other set. Let Winder spin counterclockwise, help it if necessary with a counterclockwise turn and both sets of rubber will braid together. Tie off ends with rubber bands, lube and you are good to go. Experiment with length of rubber and number of turns to get desired braid. FYI, braiding does not take more than 30 turns. I have braided with as little as 10 turns. Good Luck!

Thanks, interesting. Care to post links to the YouTube videos you mentioned? I'd be interested in seeing them.

MMitch, Glad to read about EB's customer service. That's good news and something that's increasingly becoming more rare these days. Btw, I live in Reno, Nevada. If you or anyone else is interested, I'll post some photos of the air races. They also have several restored classics on display for the Smithsonian Award. Cheers, Sky

An update on slippery rubber and customer service. Received a follow up from EB's Dave Niedzielski with replacement 4 ft of tan rubber along with a nice "how to". Great to see customer service like this. EB will get more of my business. Maybe even their new Velivole canard Wakefield. But first l need to get this Spitfire trimmed and in the air.

Sky, haven't got it in air yet. Doing test flight for CG soon. Need a good place with grass field to get it in the air but I live around a lot of concrete and buildings. Looking.

Looks good. I can see you repaired it for another test flight. Great job.

Drug stores don't sell edible undies but porn stores do, and enough flavored lubes for any taste.

Mitch, it's right next to the edible underwear.

This a very exciting topic! Glycerin is very slippery. Will look at my CVS Drugs. I heard Vaseline is not good because it destroys the rubber. What does work is KY Jelly but I may be too old to buy KY flavored jelly!

Druggist?

Most Hobby Suppliers have this in a small jar. Vaseline works too.

I use to use a mixture of 50% green soap and 50% glycerin. Got it from a duugest. Don't know if that can be done these days. The rubber band will really stretch out with this lube and last longer.
MMitch2782, Comment for image # 3667829 Aug 16 17:57
The question is lube with what? I figure some things weaken rubber
Skyediamonds1985, Comment for image # 3667829 Aug 16 17:17
That's a risk with rubber bands. Sometimes what we think we can turn it a number of times is one thing, what the rubber band can actually take, it something else. I admire you for taking that chance to help prolong a beautiful flight.

Hey now, keep it clean. This is a family forum. ; )

Lubricate the rubber?
