I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

if anyone is curious about what scale this is - it works out to somewhere between 1/17" to 1/18" scale, based on the 35' wingspan of the real Champ vs the 24" span of the model kit. This is why the same floats that work on the 1/24th scale DHc2 Beaver work with the much smaller Aeronca - the difference in scale makes it possible.

thanks, Ed - it's still on the bench but it is turning out a bit better than I thought it would. Still quite a lot to do yet. Details etc..

I've added the intermediate wing strut supports and also added the step rails to the float struts. I carved the oar but have yet to fabricate the brackets for it that mount to the float. I have a single rudder attached to the left float per typical reference pics but still need to rig it to the aircraft rudder.

thanks, Xanadu - your Dauntless build is one I like to revisit. That would be the prewar color scheme I would apply to it also - if I ever get around to building one

here you can see how the ends are notched and 'lip' joined to the base board - but they don't have to be done this way
heywooood, Comment for image # 4132723 Aug 19 18:43
Don - the base is actually 3/4" pine x 4" x 5-1/4" L the ends are made from 1/4" thick balsa sheet stock in two different heights due to the 'step' on the Widgeon's hull. One is 1-1/2" tall and the other 1-1/4" tall x 3" wide The notches are 3/8" deep and lined with felt. I used 1/4" dowel as corner posts to add strength. The end boards are notched 1/8" along the bottom edges and glued to both the top and the ends of the base.
