Fuselage planked, filled, and ready for sanding.

Scratch built 3-blade propeller.

This kit came with a 2- blade plastic propeller and no spinner, as pictured on kit box. I used Guillow’s spinner from the EDGE kit, sanded off the nose of the spinner until a hole appeared large enough to insert the center gun which was made from leftover landing gear parts.

Trial fit of parts; additional structure was added to wing and stabilizer construction. Clay was added to nose of fuselage to give model the correct balance for the tricycle landing gear.

Tissue covering complete, shrunk and sealed with dope. Planked fuselage was given numerous coats of clear dope and lightly sanded.

Top of P-39 Aircobra was spray painted with Krylon # 53522 satin olive. Bottomsurfaces are light gray - Krylon # 2423.

Guillow’s 1” diameter wheels were used on main landing gear in place of narrow wheels furnished in kit. Added front landing gear detail and wheel well outlines.

Numerous embellishments were added to this kit, such as guns, cockpit details, wing walk strips, etc.

Cockpit details…instrument panel, radio equipment, seat, etc. Did not use kit supplied decal for cockpit door; instead did outline with fine line marker.
