This bomber with the built in headwind is one of my favorite airplanes. Nice to see someone build a model of it. It's been on my to do list for a long time. Nice work!

Heck, even with directions and a kit I have head scratching, errors and slip-ups. This looks great. I would get the heebie jeebies just climbing the ladder to enter the cockpit.

I did a little studying on this plane, and the paint schemes are very cool. Looking forward to whatever you choose!

...you beat me to it Rayl!

.....I am driven a great deal by the super craftsman-ship which is so much part of this "site" - thanks to you all, also my son James for making it all possible. (He is a much better "builder" than I am, or ever will be!)

That's the thing about this site: There is always something to learn, something to inspire and moreover levels of craftsmanship to aspire to reach. Well done to all here from a humble Newbie.

Gentlemen! Thank you for your kind words - I would, however, like to say that while I am enjoying this aircraft build very much, it comes at a price - with much head-scratching, some errors & slip-ups too! My little grey cells get a work out. .....but, Hey, is that not part of the course and enjoyment of building these models? It is for me.

Ditto, only a few attempt it. If my memory is correct I have tried four times

I agree with both David and poppy, I myself love scratch built models. This model is fantastic!!!
poppy, Comment for image # 3311610 Feb 15 08:34
An amazing piece of work!!

Fascinating to see a real scratch model emerging from the hands of a real craftsman. I wouldn't even know where to start. Bob's modesty prevents him from mentioning it but he's an accomplished maker of violins and violas. This is probably like child's play to him but inspiring for the rest of us.:-)

This is the first time that I have drawn my own plans - lots of time spent figuring out how things should be done!

Wheels are temporary only (from local model store) they are too small - 2.375" dia version ordered on-line. Wish I had the skill to make my own!

This is going to be super.
rayl, Comment for image # 3309909 Feb 15 06:47
Impressive! Do you love it when a plans comes together? Where did you find the wheels?
rgood, Image # 3309908 Feb 15 22:59

More struts!

I did not record how long Rayl! (probably about an hour or so for each wing section) I traced the outline of each rib onto 3/32" balsa using a DD type fine-tip pen, then (most un-modeling like) I cut each out using a Stanley knife! - I like the stiff blade in those. it makes following the line easy. Notches were done with a very fine saw and a violin chisel. I did break one rib in the assembly of the stbd upper mainplane - it became attched to my finger with CA!!!!
