I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

dope next.

I doped the laminated elevator but it warp, so I laminated 3 1/32" sheets and that seem to work. I guess I will dope the whole thing. it will be a static plane.

I agree with Bill. That way you match the color too. Are you clear doping the whole plane? If the old stabilizer came out in one piece, now's your chance to see how it will react to doping. Another thought, if this is to be a flier, watch your weight.

thanks bill.

I say, tissue and dope to make it easier to cover up the wood grain...
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 3528705 Jan 16 11:55
?
BriandKilby, Image # 3528705 Jan 16 11:54

should i apply tissue over the elevator or just put dope on it?
BriandKilby, Image # 3528605 Jan 16 11:52

i took your advise david and don and liminated two pieces of 1/32" balsa. thank you for your expertize.

thank you for helping me out david and don.

Or laminate 2 thicknesses with grains running perpendicular. That might do it. That way you can also get the size you need.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 3527104 Jan 16 16:51
Try doping a 1/16" piece and see.
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 3527104 Jan 16 16:35
I found some in 3/32" and 1/16". do you think the 1/16 would be to thin and might still warp when doped?
David Duckett, Comment for image # 3527104 Jan 16 16:14
Have you checked any balsa supply outfits to see if they carry 6" widths, Brian??
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 3527104 Jan 16 15:32
I was thinking maybe I could use a 3/32" sheet or 1/16"(?) for the elevator. does the sheet come in 6" width? thanks brian.
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 3527104 Jan 16 13:58
thanks don.
Don C, Comment for image # 3527104 Jan 16 13:40
It's been a while since I did that. Usually I wet covered with silkspan. Coat both sides with thinned dope and let dry, repeat. Usually I would do at least 3 coats, depending on what I intended to do with the plane. I think you might get a better idea from Scigs30 or simpleflyer.
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 3527004 Jan 16 12:37
i had just put it on and looking at reference like you said it wasn't on the plane. so, i'll take it off. thanks for the reminder dale.
