Armament was two - 7.92 mm LMG 08/15 Spandau machinde guns which were embedded into the fuselage on early models for aerodynamics, but were found to be too difficult to relaoad easily.

PfalzD3 - 16" - This A/C seems to be always voted in the top 10 most beautiful A/C of all time. Introduced in April 1917 (750 were built), it was named after it's Mercedes "Bathtub" engine - The Mercedes DIII, six cylinder, inline piston, radiator-cooled,180 HP, 92 MPH engine.

"Mandrake" and "Bloodroot" are now getting VERY suspicious of "Boris" and "Yegor"...

Richard, it appears you're not alone in the "Biplane Enthusiast" dept. Just as you, I too live in a small apartment. Equally, I'm drawn to the unusual and rare aircraft that are away from the mainstream. You've done an incredible job of creating wonderful works of art and very impressive at that too. I could name dozens of our fellow members who share a great love for all things in biplanes and their rigging. I must have sent personal emails to several of our members bugging them for their inputs. I've reviewed past postings that stretched back years and then emailed them for more information. They've all been patient and understanding and were glad to share their knowledge, trials and tribulations and experiences. I thank you for sharing with us details of various kits and accessories. They're great.

This was my first attempt at all-out riggning, control wires, intricate small engine detailing, doubled up ribs, radiator and fuel tank tubing, machine guns embedded into the fuselage, and a two colour painted plastic prop (I now wish I had made a laminated wood prop). I also forgot the bottom wing dihedral! (Senior's moment)

Dave Cowel also has the larger AW (Aero-Werkes) kits, $30, which contain CDs, and also KS (Keith Sterner) 16" kits $15. He also has a great selection of old discontinued Comet, Guillow, and Sterling SRK models - in fact, this Pfalz D3 is a reduced, 16" version, of the old Guillow kit, with modifications. He also has all three triplanes - 16" DPCM106 Foklker Dr.1, 16" DPCM107 Sopwith Tripe, and a 21" Pfalz Dr.1 AW11607, which is in my hanger.

If you are a dedicated WW1 enthusiast, and with not a lot of room in a small apaartment like me, but still like to build small 16"-18" Walnut Scale WW1 laser cut kits for $16 to $20, check out the great selection of DPCM (Dave Paul Cowel Models), SRK's (short run kits), on his website http://dpcmodels.homestead.com/ .

Thanks James for putting this A/C on the "Available Aircraft" list. This is the 16" DPCM104 laser cut kit Pfalz D3 $18 scale 1:23 WW1 German single seat biplane fighter, 45 grams, completed Apr 25, 2016 - the last model I finished before getting "bogged down", over my head, with a 25" scratch built Curtiss Pusher last summer.
