| edtherenderman | Scratch Built McDonnell XP-67 | Build | 28-Feb-21 20:16 | | | Views : 626 | | Bottom is painted a gray primer. Started drawing in panel lines. Pretty close to do, but need a few details, like access panels. There are almost no reference pictures of the underside of this aircraft. Challenge with building a prototype aircraft where only two examples were built! So, a lot of guesswork here. |

| edtherenderman | Scratch Built McDonnell XP-67 | Build | 28-Feb-21 20:13 | | | Views : 610 | | Picked up work on the XP-67 this weekend. Painted the top with OD Green, with dark green along the edges. This was a common camouflage technique at the time. The OD Green is not represented well in these pictures, but is supposed to meet the official OD green spec. When researching this color, it became apparent that none of the paint companies have a good representation of the OD Green that was used in WWII. It also doesn’t help that the USAAF changed the color mix in 1943, but many manufactures used whatever paint they had in stock! Plus, planes were repainted when they were repaired or upgraded. So…I’m taking the “choose the color you like” method. |
