SteveM | Guillows Series 400 - P-51 Mustang | Build | 28-Oct-08 13:26 | | Views : 872 | My simple fix; an epoxy and plywood sandwich. Tape was used to keep the epoxy from leaking out the bottom while a clamp help the sandwich till the epoxy set up. While not what I would do if I was still in the building phase, I think it will do the trick. |
SteveM | Guillows Series 400 - P-51 Mustang | Build | 27-Oct-08 00:57 | | Views : 959 | Close up view from the rear of the landing gear wire. There was little to prevent the wires from rotating, maybe I was supposed to put the wires on the other side of the spar. I think the best fix is to sandwich with plywood. |

SteveM | Guillows Series 400 - P-51 Mustang | Flying | 26-Oct-08 17:38 | | Views : 868 | On later tries I was able to pull up in time, but the field was so small I was constantly turning to avoid the trees. It seems like it wanted to roll right and left aileron would hardly turn/roll it left at all, I'll have to make sure the wing is level. |
SteveM | Guillows Series 400 - P-51 Mustang | Flying | 26-Oct-08 17:35 | | Views : 984 | I have never hand launched so I was a little slow in getting on the elevator and she smacked into the ground before I could pull up. The force of the "landing" was enough to knock the landing gear wire loose so I'll have to rework them. |
