Image Comments SteveM 01-May-08 15:47 The third flight I tried to do more runway passes but the wind was up to about 2-3 MPH and was shifting directions. I dipped a wingtip into the ground and broke the motor mount. A little CA got me in the air again but the wind got the better of me again. SteveM 01-May-08 15:57 This setup was still on the undersized LiPo batteries, myabe the 1100 mAh LiFe packs will arrive today and I can try them tomorrow. The prop is an APC 9070, but I am down to 49 watts due to a higher gear ratio slowing down the prop. I've been pondering the wind situation, I'm sure we saw no more than 4-5 MPH wind when I did this damage, but even at altitude it was a handful to control. Maybe the Aero-Star DD sent me would be better in the wind, but also would crash far far worse. Obviously I need a whole lot more experience flying, flying in wind, and landing. Would a heavier (5 lbs vrs 1 lb) plan be better? Any thoughts anyone? Please sign in to comment on this image.
