I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Looks amazing John, very well engineered. The "Barrel" has legs.

A beautifully engineered piece of work!!

That's a stunning piece of work!

Engine of cockpit next???
John M Oshust, Image # 527211 Dec 07 20:39

I guess I can attach the "Streisand" tomorrow.
John M Oshust, Image # 527111 Dec 07 20:37

This work goes with hand checkering a cowl....things to never do again!

The Barrel has legs!

DD..We have a thing for wheels. A fine LG linkage is forth coming

The Streisand develops.

jedi...the file yes , I did, "tanks!' .020 piano or music wire. Drill holes in elevator. Cut small pieces of wire. Apply glue to wire and insert in holes. Pushe elevator and wire into horizon stab to mark position, drill holes, more glue and PUSH! Repeat for rudder.
Jedi, Comment for image # 526110 Dec 07 21:09
John you'll have to tell me more detail on how you did the rudder and elevator. This looks great. Did you ever get that file I sent of the plans?
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 525410 Dec 07 16:57
easily detached...so that if desired
John M Oshust, Image # 526110 Dec 07 16:54

I did not make hindges for the tail of thiBarrel. Rudder and elevator attached with thin music wire. Thesurfaces "wiggle" to show that they move and the wire supports were less work.

I have learned a great deal from the Mig 2.95 and the Spirit. Getting the "Baby's Rear" finish on the Barrel will not require as much effort. The first coat of primer.

DD...My thoughts exactly. This worked but does not look real enough. I have already started a permanent gear that will closely dupliate the original. This gear should be easy to detact so that if sesired, the plane can fly "Wheels Up!"

You have a good point DD... I am running in to the same problem with my landing gear...it is perplexing for sure. I have just seen some of the things you all pull off on these models and I just trying to give some encouragement.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 525410 Dec 07 12:44
You can purchase custom made retracts for many planes, usually the bigger ones, at a price. Because of the complex mechanism involved with these I would think you could get a set for say about $1500.00, maybe more. I like to see the landing gear on a plane and this looks just fine. Retracts really only catch the eye when they are on a flying model or when you're sitting comfortably in your big chair with a fire going in your cabin in the hills of Pennsylvania with a radio transmitter in your hands which will make them actually work. I vote to leave the gear extended!!! This hog, uhh barrell, needs some feet.

Dont Give Up...... You can do it...
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 525509 Dec 07 19:24
poppy, wise one, the mechanics for this type of gear is a nightmare, no wonder the design was abandoned.
poppy, Comment for image # 525509 Dec 07 19:02
A good decision, John. But the engineering is fantastic. With your expertise, the fixed gear will look like it's ready to fold when required. A great build so far.
