I posted a few pictures in my P-51 build that you may or may not be interested in. One is of a shroud using a restaurant take out cup and the others are of the oxygen hose. Made from .015 solder wrapped around a wire. |

I’ll go check it out - thanks! He did a great collection of vids on the Jug. Impressive. I had known the P-47 was purposely built as a bomber escort but had never put it together that the top USAAC brass had scuttled its use, believing their bombers didn’t NEED escort fighters. Even as their crews were being decimated. If anyone is interested in learning more about the P-47 or any of the aircraft featured in Greg’s videos - I highly recommend them. |

Nice added detail!
BTW - Greg's Planes and Automobiles added the last segment of the P-47 analysis last week (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jeV3wuML2s) Interesting what he says about the P-47 compared to the P-51. |

hopefully - when I'm done with it - it'll be a nice representation of Mr Seversky's amazing fighter attack aircraft |

creating the massive inter-cowling chin scoop. |

as I note in the videos the Guillow's engineer split the cowling in half - the cowling on the Republic P-47 was massive and in reference to the kit, would have extended from former #2 to the nose. The firewall would and should have been where former #2 is. instead we have former #1 cutting right through our motor. Rather than change the fuselage and do a bunch of surgery on the kit I just buried the motor in former #1 - now all I have to do is make the seam between the plastic part and the balsa fuselage disappear.. |
