The wire comes in the kit straight. You will have to bend them carefully per the plans. Also note that their are different diameter wires for the parts. I have no experience with making balsa kits gas or electric flyers, but as I keep on saying....one of these days! John O, I hope to have some pics of landing gear for you soon. I am nursing a knee surgery so am going slow.

Please sir, that would be of help. I want the wheels on the Mig to retract and I need direction.

John, this pic shows the folding wing hardware construction. I have also built in the retractable landing gear per Guillow plan. I recall you are interested in retract gear, so let me know if you would like a couple detail shots of that mechanism. mo

I am confused, is this complex and well built mechanism part of the landing gear?
mattolson, Comment for image # 252625 Jul 07 15:57
trotro...I've posted a couple of pics of the folding wing details.

Folding wing connection (note for this shot that the inner section of wing is actually folded up...reversed for actual operation). N1 and N2 pivoted on N5. The wing locks down with N4 going thru loop of N3 when in down position. Tab on N4 allows pulling it thru block BF1 to lock and unlock wings.

Folding wing- Front top leading edge view. N5 will be permanently installed. This is the pivot bar for N1 and N2 to fold the wing up.

I am sure it can be done, but best to defer to James or others for good info on doing that. I've only used foam ARFs to fly, but one of these days.... I don't know your experience level, but also bear in mind that this is a relatively large complex bird.

trotro, many people like to make static models. Filling in with extra stringers helps produce a more realistic finish. Since I fly my models, I don't do this. It does look good though...
trotro, Comment for image # 253217 Jul 07 21:50
why did u add more stringers..? it will make it heavier or its just a static model?
trotro, Comment for image # 252617 Jul 07 21:09
thanks alot i am verry exited to start my model...i am thinkin in make it Electric RC ,micro servos...and electric motor, but i dont know if it can be done do you know anything about this?
mattolson, Comment for image # 252617 Jul 07 13:43
The folding wing hardware and instructions are provided with the kit as is the moveable ailerons. I'll try and take a few more detail shots of the hardware installed for you. As always with the Guillow kits is to be patient, study the plans carefully, and work slowly. Sorry Jkap5, I must have missed your question back in May.
trotro, Comment for image # 252617 Jul 07 01:45
can u post more pics on how u build the folding wings and does de guillow kit comes w movavle alerons?
jkap5, Comment for image # 252618 May 07 22:21
Does the kit come with the folding wing hardware or did you get that seperate?

Thanks. I've put the Corsair on the back burner so I can 'practice' my finishing and painting skills on the 403 Spitfire, so yours maybe finished first. Hope to see your pics too.
