I grew up about 4 blocks north of this. Didn' see this one, but did see an F9F in the same location about 1956. |

Thanks again. Ray, thanks for commenting on the color. I did a whole lot of mixing before it came to this. Could have used DD's expertise. Brian, from my research the US didn't. It was land based for the Marines in the South Pacific and of course carrier based for the USN. Search F4U-1 and you'll find pictures of British and French use.It was apparently a handful to fly. |
