Even though glued down, the silkspan is tightening at the area where the intake meets the fuse. It's a common problem with this kind of geometry.

"Primer" is light gray acrylic

Miramar? Top Gun, maybe?

The flat root rib has a balsa block glued to it which has been carved to fit the contour of the fuse before covering. .

Covering from front to back, these are the first three pieces.

No need to be pretty with Micro-Fill--this sands down beautifully.

It's always an inspiration to see your work in progress. Because of you, I bought some Micro-Fill - I've never even heard of it before. I am anxious to see how this will be covered, as Poppy says there are a lot of complex curves.

I thought the same as moostang, I thought this was a photo of your finished model.

Oh! Is that a hinged canopy. Nice armament also, a sidewinder and a folding fin aircraft rocket. BTW, if not for the pilot inside, I assumed that this was your finished aircraft already. LOL. Nice choice, camo with no hints of green. A possible Morrocan RAF desert scheme?

the probable color scheme

Silkspan is going to lay beautifully over this. Don't think they'll be any first coat of primer sag here. Really like the carved rear solid surfaces.

Micro-Fill Rules!!! The only section covered, with silkspan, so far is the small area on the fuse behind the plastic intakes.

Another one on the way to museum quality. Those compound curves are very tricky to cover for most. You do it beautifully.

Also if ever an aircraft called for a hinged lift-up canopy, Bingo... this is the one.
