Starting to look like an Albatros. Upper wing will be added after painting.

A very fitting paint job for your plane.

Here's the wood we're talking about. I will probably use this plane for my paint scheme.

The simulated wood covering will be the perfect compliment to this great looking build.

I am betting you can do it. This is looking really good!

Yes, part of the fuselage is typically left unpainted in the pictures that I have seen. It should be quite fun to paint a wood texture onto silkspan.

Perfect covering! Are you going to simulate the wood covering with acrylics?
SteveM, Image # 516128 Nov 07 12:34

Fuselage covered with 00 silkspan. Silkspan continues to amaze me with how easy it is to work with and is fairly forgiving.

Like Barnstormer said, very little detail to be added. Of course now I need to add that map.

Marvelous, as Fernando would say, just marvelous!!

This looks great, only so much detail you can put in an Albatros cockpit. Great job.

I have a long way to go to catch up to poppy and moostang. :-)

Added some cockpit detail, sorry for the blur.

Very nice indeed! To clarify, this David uses dope to attach the silkspan to the frame and the 50/50 glue mixture to seal the frame prior to that.

Putting together some cockpit details. Paint and gages come next.

I used dope for this one, I forget why I decided to use dope rather than try Dave's 50/50 white glue method. I guess part of it was wanting to cover with dry tissue so I wouldn't get any warping.

Nice covering. Did you use dope or 50/50 white glue?
SteveM, Comment for image # 511719 Nov 07 13:28
Actually, it appears that 00 is lighter than 000.
SteveM, Comment for image # 511719 Nov 07 13:11
That silkspan is some amazing stuff, the wings wouldn't have come out so nicely with typical kit tissue. I think I could even have gone with 000 considering how strong this 00 is.

Perfect cover job. Well done!
