While looking for something entirely different, I happened across this site that has some interesting A-26 pictures. http://napoleon130.tripod.com/id161.html Most of them are On-Mark Civil 7 conversions but there sre some of the untouched aircraft before the conversion process started.

This is a real champ...liking the look of the nacelles.

Hmm, I thought the wing went over the nacelles. ;) Looks really good, David.

Easily shaped with a sanding block

Sand to contour.

Using 1/16" laminations instead of trying to carve a solid hard block

I haven't done it but it certainly could be done. All my Todays Hobbies jets are made that way as is the Bearcat. The technique is called planking.

David, this looks like another beauty coming off the line. I'm curious if you have ever taken the nibs off the formers and then use just your wood that is the width of each section you are doing with the fill in wood instead of stringers and wood? Just a thought.

I remember that Ed T. Packard called this method of filling a "corrugated surface". Sometime I have to build one of his plans I still have. I shyed away from it because they are really high effort to build.

One down, one to go.

Cut & paste. Then carefully trim away the excess and sand.

As a kid I dreaded cutting out all the pieces and thinking about it now it was probably because all I had was a single-edge razor blade. Now all I use is a x-acto and lots of sharp blades. My 3 West Wings planes were all printwood and I found that accurately cutting out the pieces was as much a part of the build as anything else and I actually look forward to it. I DO NOT like the way they crowd all the pieces so closely together. Of course, when one's building the way I do, a broken piece is no big deal. I DO very much like the fit of the pieces since they are more accurate than die-cut, usually. Printwood would not stop me from building a kit.

Looking Very nice!!

Thanks for the reply, David. If I remember correctly, printwood kits with all the cutting involved are not exactly a favorite of yours. Has this kit changed your impression of this type of kit? BTW, what you are doing with this kit looks great. I am looking forward to seeing the completed model.
