John, it worked, You're a genius! Well, maybe just smart.

Awright!!!! Using that new scroll saw to fabricate these????
John M Oshust, Image # 664118 Feb 08 14:16

Well my fellow "Wingnuts" all wing and fuselage components are roughed out.

SW I know what you mean...rubber bands to act as a guride for the stripe, marked the stripe with a marker when the bands were straight and parallel, then painted it carefully by brush and paint marker.

I'll look forward to this build. I looks like it will be up to your regular standards. John, I've stripped all the tissue off the F4B and have covered it with 1/32 balsa. And have painted it partially, I'm wanting to put a 1" red stripe around the fuselage, just behind the cockpit. How do you get the stripe straight and even, I'm stumped. HELP!!

Excuse me not spars, but ribs....hold the sauce!

Back in the building business. Wing spars roughed out. The Rat is sure going to have some big wings!

DD...About to start scratching a "RAT!" The plan from Cleveland Airlines....off to the shop to slice the pans up and start making parts. Model withdrawl forces me to start!

This is going to be an interesting build John, its just an interesting looking plane. But all of your builds have been interesting and entertaining too! I'm personally waiting for another build with great machine guns.

The "Rat" comes in many delicious flavours...here is another option!

DD....Looks like I start cutting wood for this bird. My Dumas kit, from the factory, will not be in for at least two weeks. I ordered a Gee Bee from Tower Hobbies...in stock but will not be here for a week. I start slicing and dicing wood tomorrow. The "Rat" will take form!

This looks cool.......... I have a 1/5th scale GeeBee that is in the build waiting stage area.

Very nice John. Radial engine with adjustable cooling ports on the front of cowling. Right up your alley. Trying to get a visual of this with a 44" ws. Fuhgeddaboutit!!

DD. Thanks for the moral boost but before I start making this from scratch building a plane, I will assemble a plane from Dumas, that is if it ever comes!

I went over to the Dumas factory here in Tucson a few weeks ago. They have all their kits hanging from the ceiling and they are the same ones that you see if you search their website. They are all very well made and from what I have seen here, and other sites they are quality kits. They are also made for flying and the structures are, therefore, light, and the wood, apparently, is light also. Personally, I will find it far more interesting to see you bring this to life from scratch than I would seeing you build a Dumas kit. Your talent really demands more.

The plan for the "Russkie" Rat arrived today. 1/8 scale 44 inch span. Waiting for a Gee Bee kit from Dumas. Very poor service, almost two weeks and no KIT!
