I love it already, I can tell this is going to be one of my favorites.

You see poppy is working for $3/hr....I am selling myself cheap!
poppy, Image # 767610 Apr 08 18:47

Profile cut. 20$ material and 6.5 hrs. to this point. Now for carving and sanding to shape and I will have a completed fuselage.

Top and bottom blocks added.

1/4" sides with 3 formers. Doublers at all edges compensate for sand thru when rounding fuselage.
poppy, Comment for image # 766310 Apr 08 11:16
Nope, same size. The sides are 1/4" balsa, spine and cowl top are 1" balsa blocks, lower cowl and radiator curve are 1/2" blocks, radiator is 1" block, and lower rear fuselage is 1/4" block. 1/4" doublers inside front from spinner to wing leading edge. Fin is moved aft 1/4" and rudder is enlarged by 1/4". I am building like a large scale radio control model. Much the same as DD's FW190. Canopy will be constructed like my BF109, except with curves.

Maybe this helps.

Great project, looks like its going to be a super model. Could you post the plans again only larger they are a little hard for some of us to see exactly what changes you are making.
Barnstormer, Comment for image # 765409 Apr 08 21:56
Yes poppy, as I recall it was a red primer color, and both Gen. Quesada and Gen. Eisenhower were reprimanded by Gen. Bradley for there so called joy ride. I say what would the outcome of the war in europe have been if these two had not went for this "Joy Ride".
poppy, Comment for image # 765409 Apr 08 21:00
Yes Barnstormer, I believe it was painted a red primer color. The event was called "the day the stars looked down". Ike was strapped in and canopy bolted on. No way to get out in event of emergency. He was forbidden by Gen. Marshall to repeat this performance.

I meant to say after D-Day
Barnstormer, Comment for image # 765409 Apr 08 19:37
Hey poppy have you ever seen a picture of the B model that they put a hasty observers seat in the rear of the cockpit and on july 4th 1944 Maj. Gen. Pete Quesada flew Gen. Eisenhower (Observer) around the area of St. Lo for a sort of recon mission before D-Day?
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 765409 Apr 08 18:49
Call it a Super poppy!
poppy, Comment for image # 765409 Apr 08 16:53
Hey, JO, now there's an idea! A 5140109! What a plane that would be.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 765409 Apr 08 16:48
Looks like s Guillows Mustang and BF 109 hybrid to me.....with a shade of a P-40!
poppy, Image # 765409 Apr 08 16:36

Guillows 400 series. Plans modified to my scratch build specs.

Your work absolutely deserves to be in the scratch built category.
