Heinrich Dorfmann, Image # 906410 Aug 08 10:34

Front cowl shape was inspired by David Ducket's P47. Sanding this took quite some time.

Stabilizer and fin rebuilt; new one in the foreground. Weight is (old/new): Stabilizer: 5 g / 8g. Fin: 2 g / 3 g.

Looks very light weight. Nice.

Hmmmmm Interesting set up for bulkheads.
Heinrich Dorfmann, Image # 888910 Jul 08 14:46

In this plan, the bulkheads are split into upper/lower half. The result is less than perfect. Next time, I will build symmetrical left/right bulkheads.

After a longer family break, I finally found some time to continue with the fuselage.

The two bulkheads have been doubled and are joined with plastic screws.

Starting the fuselage. The middle part holds the wing and will be detachable to access R/C components; I will try to make it fly.

Took about 31 hours so far.

Leading edge is straight, main spar is almost straight. Now for the fuselage ...

A mechanical letter scale. I love it because it's got two different scales, is easy and sturdy and so simple! You can read 1/2 gramm precisely.

Save yourself work, just cut pieces from scrap to make them fit.

Herr Dorfmann, looks good to me, is that a glass for schnapps in the background?

Lookin' good. That's an unusual tool!
Heinrich Dorfmann, Image # 829410 May 08 10:57

Set up for main wing. I have to re-cut rib 1 and rib 9 as the ones I have do not reach the leading edge ... I *love* building eliptical wings.
Heinrich Dorfmann, Image # 829310 May 08 10:54

... and after sanding. It is plain to see that it is not symmetrical; I will probably rebuild it.

Elevator before ....
