I reached my goal for the evening.

Today's goal is almost met. When this is shaped work stops until I do the cockpit next week.

Nicely done...enjoy your trip.

I am going to the hills for 5 days. I would like to have this ready for cockpit detailing upon my return.

Fuse progress.

CW...Yes the restoration site, I also grabbed many photos. Can you point me to other references? Actual pohotos or diagrams of the real plane and its structure. If so contact me johnmoshust@att.net, contact me anyway this way I can get you e-mail address. Putting this bird together is no walk in the park. The instructions a very vague, to say the least.

This looks great. Is this the restoration site?: I grabbed almost all of their photos for reference. You have a great start on this project. Is this the 36" or 54" model? (The 54" model is 1/6 scale. You could pose a GI Joe action figure (IT IS NOT A DOLL!) next to, or in it. I'm planning on a Frank Luke SPAD once I get to my model.

John, if you like, contact me. I have a ton of photos on the SPAD XIII I'd be happy to share with you (and anyone else). jimb@jrcdesign.com

This is excellent John, the rigging work is perfect.

Thanks for the generous offer john. Its between this and the camel. My wife has promised me the rc gear and kit for part of my 40th in December.

And it is going swimmingly. Looking like it should be a skeleton with all that intricate detail...why spoil it with tissue. Add a real engine and arm it!!!!

WS...When I am finished the plans and instructions are yours if you want them. Then you can scratch it or only buy the wood.

John, over the moon that your doing this one. I have been contemplating purchasing this one as my first rc build...
John M Oshust, Image # 939422 Sep 08 22:49

I ran out of gas this PM and did not get this all done but I think you can see where it is going.
John M Oshust, Image # 939322 Sep 08 22:47

Barnstormer directed me to a site with restoration photos of an actual Spad XIII. Since I have the refences and this kit structure is close to real I figured why not build her as real as possible.
John M Oshust, Image # 939222 Sep 08 19:55

The parts are not numbered on the wood and there is no numbered master part plan. You look at the plan and find a piece that has a matching shape. My humble beginning.

Wow!!! Look at those trailing edges. That's a lot of scallops! Gotta love laser cutting.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 939122 Sep 08 16:43
No plastic parts. Details must all be scratched. A scratch build W/O the work of hand cutting all of the parts. I guess "My Hat is in the Ring!"
John M Oshust, Image # 939122 Sep 08 16:40

Well this is what I will try to build. Very close to the real plane in structure. I believes there are 93 wing spars. First impression. Postal box (No Photos of the Spad), great laser cut wood. Nice plans, and sketchy instructions. Wood and wire. N
