John is another master modeler. I have missed his builds and hope he gives us another chance to admire his work. |

Judging from the object under the fuselage, looks like it could be a Stearman crop duster. Very good swirl patterns near the front & landing gears. Is that a Williams Bros. engine? -Sky |

Not basement, it was hanging in my den. The heating season and winter....low hunidity. All surfaces are tight and the wood must be dry. Look at the other photo, I think you can see how tight the wings are again, like the day they were covered. |

Unreal problem, John. Glad you were able to resolve it. You were able to remove the polyspan sags??? Thinking your basement is not an ideal storage space for the models. |

I remembered that polyspan will shink even afeter it is painted. A few minutes with the heat gun and the fuse and wings are tight again. Shrinking after paint makes the paint a tad glossier. Of course you must heat slowly so as not to damage the paint. Off to the cabin tomorrow!! |

Remember Schnazola the crop duster? It was in the shop for a pre transport dusting and inspection. It has been about 6 months since its completion. I noticed that the balsa must have dried and the entire plane has shunk a bit. The music wire rigging was bowed and the polyspan had sagged. I cut small sections from the wires and installed Al tubing ferrules, crimped on one end. The rigging is straight again and the ferrule should allow for linear change with temp. |

well... thank you for the kind words... anyway... *LOL* |

Bill..This is just a different rendition of a Stearman. Yours is not "backwoods" at all, just a different expression. |
BillParker, Comment for image # 14502 | 13 Oct 09 12:00 |
Mine's a tad "backwoods" compared to this thing... |
