I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Absolutely brilliant - thanks guys, a range of most excellent suggestions. Great stuff - I'll probably try them all !

Monfilament for necklace beading Comes in an elastic version. I purchased some to try when I need to rig wings next time.

I have used fishing monofilament to rig models. Big selection of sizes. Cut to approximate length and fix with CA++. Use a warm/hot iron to shrink the line taught

I use fine stainless steel straight wire cut to proper length the glued in place. John O. uses piano wire. All the suggestions work. A combination of some will work also.

Craft stores have an elastic monofilament line that is used for beading bracelets. I used it on my Piper Cub for some of the interior rigging. It stretches and will stay taut without much stress on the wings.

I've used fishing line, and that works well. It's on my tigermoth if you want to see. Not sure what weight the line was, but it was fairly light.

Thanks but I'm up to the real pain in the you know what part which is working out the rigging. Anyone got any suggestions on what works well for rigginf in this scale ?

I think it's a hunk of Rimu Reuben.

Looking good Nigel, what type of wood to you carve the prop out of?
stirling, Comment for image # 1590015 Jan 10 11:39
I'm yet to have a crack at prop making. Must admit it scares me a bit. As for the fish well hopefully I'll have a pic of an even bigger one in three weeks as I'm having another crack at the same spot.

Yep, my first carved propeller, I'm like a proud daddy. Not nearly as impressive as your fish !
stirling, Comment for image # 1590015 Jan 10 11:28
Coming along nicely Nigel. Very smooth. Great detail so far. Did you carve the prop yourself?

Finally on it's wheels and err skid thingy. I can't help thinking that something is still missing - I'll nut it out !

I realise everyone in the Northern Hempisphere is shivering so I though you be pleased to know its high summer down here in New Zealand although you wouldn't think it from my son's attire. This is in the Able Tasman National park just out of Nelson, very nice spot for a short new year break.

Thanks guys, you certainly learn as you go. It was originally white and red checkers but that got real ugly and is now buried under several more layer of paint.

Nigel, this is looking great, that paint job must have taken hours but the result is well worth the effort.
