Haven't got a Stuke you say, well make your own young man. Not a bad recreation and it's full size ! I had no idea the Stuka was so big, no wonder it became Spitfire bait during the Battle of Britain.

Because Hurricanes are topical I took this shot today of the one outside our local air museum in Omaka, New Zealand. This example is in fact one of the wooden full size replicas created for the 1968 Battle of Britain movie. It was imported several years ago and fully refurbished and is now very difficult to pick as a giant kitset model rather than the real thing. Cool eh !

I was watching that bid, but was going up too much for me. Good for you!

Sorry about that Bill, but yes they will be treasured.

Thought so... That was me you were bidding against. Glad they all went to a good home...

Bill - it was an Ebay auction. I've always wanted the Mosquito and the Rumpler I was happy to buy another 16 models to get them. Very rare to see these kits this far South of the equator.

How did you come upon all those in one pile?

The Rumpler is a beaut! Only comes up now and again...

That's right poppy - logging everywhere. Makes a change from seeing sheep which outnumber the human population 10 to one.

Beautiful country! Looks like a bit of logging done.

The stripes are the water channels leading out from the foreshore. I spose it would be a good place for gliding but the walk to get a plane that didn't return would be hard going ! It's damned near vertical over the bank. I checked out that U-tube clip, that's nothing short of amazing !

If we had a hill like that in my backyard, we'd be flying our sailplanes every day. Are those glassy stripes(?) in the bay indicative of the wind direction (R to L on image)? Tell your son the current speed record for rc sailplanes is 392 mph (about 630 kph). It's called Dynamic Soaring (DS). YouTube it. "Kinetic" is the record holders model name.

Thanks Reuben, it seems like it's been a long winter but days like this one really make get the endorphines humming. If I threw a rock hard enough I'd hit my house down below - and probably then get arrested !

This is looking really good! Regular viewers will also notice a cat. Patches and Babycat will be pleased. ;-)
