If I was following the progress of this build, I'd think it was a plastic kit. Beautiful. |

Thanks DD, I'm going to strive to be able to build a jet at the level of expertise that you do. |

I don't know if this is just an old urban legend, but I've read that one of the reasons these older planes could fly for only an hour to an hour and a half was that they were lubricated with castor oil and, in the case of the LeRhone, its spinning would create a fine mist of the oil which would be inhaled by the pilot. After an hour or so, the castor oil would start to take effect, and the pilot had to find a landing spot. In a hurry. |

Where would the world be without old farts? |

Great minds think alike...My quest exactly. I know I saw it somewhere but could not remember....then I am an old fart! |

My thoughts exactly I spent a week looking for threaded PVC and I know someone makes it, just couldn't find it, and I was anxsious to get going so metal pipe it was. |

I thought they looked familiar. Keep an eye out for threaded PVC drill rod. I know someone sells it and it would make great cylinders but drastically cut the mass/ |
Barnstormer, Comment for image # 4690 | 15 Oct 07 21:01 |
John, The cylinders are 1/2 in thredded pipe purchased at the local home improvment store in the lighting section. I believe you used similar material on "THE CAMEL" it was the inspireation for this build. Dont think I'll come close to level of detail you acheive, but I hope to get there some day. |
