Barrel brace and lift mechanism. The cable and pulley system helped raise and lower the gun for magazine change. |

British Foster mount gets the nod. Unlike the static French mount, the Foster permitted the pilot to lower the gun on a curved rail. The permitted an easy reload and the opportunity of shooting up if you were under the belly of the opposing aircraft. |
