Thanks Don. Agree. This site gives me lots of ideas. I like Guillows kits because they give you the basics and you can improvise such as the rear window.

Mitch: Guillows states it is 1/30 scale, according to published data, your Spit Mk I should be 11.96 inches for Overall Length (nose of spinner to back of the rudder.) However according to Guillows the wingspan is 16.5 inches which works out to be roughly 1/27 scale giving you a OAL of 13 5/16 inches so the stock kit isn't that far off the correct proportions.

New build for me. Love the Spitfire for its looks and combat performance. I am extending the cowl 10 cm because I think the Guillows scale is off. After looking at many references my eyeballs say extend that nose slightly an make it a little flatter around the Merlin. I am not using the plastic cowl. Thanks dgreg for your ideas on filling in the lower stringers. Above I will use balsa panels.
