The Squadron book also has many photos of details such as the cooling gills.
jerry campbell, Image # 3151726 Apr 14 12:30

The cooling gills were added to the A-3.
jerry campbell, Image # 3151626 Apr 14 12:29

The armament did not change from the A-2 to the A-3.

The Squadron books always have a series of drawings showing the developmental history of the aircraft. This is important in helping you to decide which varient you wish to build.

In building a stick and paper model to scale it takes three ingrediants, a good kit or plans, good research, and elbow grease. I'm going to spend a bit of time boring you with my research. A good book to use for building the Fw 190A series is the Squadron Signal Fw 190 in Action. This particular book, after sales of 65,000 has been replaced with an even better and more detailed edition by Brian Filley.

I used the 1/24th drawings for a pattern to make a correct size stablizer. You can see how far off the Guillows is.

VERY NICE detail

The wings are now covered with 1/32 balsa sheet and now requires a lot of filling and sanding.

The correct smaller stablizer has trim tabs added.

The plastic cowling has been added to the fuselage assembly and the cooling gills, that wer introduced on the A-3 have been cut into the side of the nose. I have added a bit of gray so the gills would show up.

The tail has had the correct antena aperture added, and trim tab on the rudder.

The kit canopy does fit well it is just inconplete.
jerry campbell, Image # 3149424 Apr 14 18:35

The begining of the mold for the new canopy. I am using the kit supplied partial canopy as a guide.

The lower side of the wing also has extra stringer on the center section

Planning to cover the wings with 1/32nd sheeting a number of extra stringers were added.

it's real sleek looking. when was it introduced? high altitude interceptor?

Brian, yes and no, the Ta was a further development of the Fw 190 and many components of the D-9 were used, but I don't think it would be called a further development of the D-9. Many aviation authorities have claimed that the Ta 152H-1 was the finest fighter of WW2.

jerry, was the ta-152 a variant of the d-9?
jerry campbell, Comment for image # 3141714 Apr 14 14:56
By the way the Ta 152 is the final development of the Fw 190. The kit is a Ta 152H-1 pressurized high altitude fighter, but should be able to be converted to the Ta 152C standard fighter.
