Lookin' good. The pilots nicknamed this "The Gutless Cutlass" because of its underpowered engine. |

Fortunately 1/32 scale decals work for both of these. |

Because of the high angle of attack when it is sitting on it's gear, the Cutlass looks like a hulking beast of a fighter, but it was actually rather small by today's jet fighter standards. The wing span was 40 feet, a foot shorter than an F4U Corsair, and it was only 41 feet long. The F-15, for comparison, is 63 feet long and has a wing span of 43 feet. If the two models were to the same scale the Cutlass would be noticeably smaller. |

Sometimes the camera plays tricks on the eyes. I would have thought that it was actually smaller. Thanks for scale check David, looks fantastic so far! 😃 |

The first application of filler has been samded and I'll repeat the process before covering. The rudders are a lamination of 1/16" and 3/32" balsa. |

Sorry, I meant the F-15 :) |

Thanks. It's slightly larger than the Guillows F-15. |

Very cool David. Is it smaller than the Guillows F-18? |

All the infill on the fuselage was done with scraps from other kits. |

The leading and trailing edges are notched. I added 3/32" stringers to the top and bottom of the wings. |

Good that you have found an opportunity to build the kit, David. I am looking forward to see how your build turns out, great as usual.

With a whopping 15" wingspan, the scale is close to 1/32. |
David Duckett, Image # 32535 | 02 Nov 14 04:09 |
It's not exactly scale so I'll build it as is. |
