Starting to detail, had problems working with the over-stated fuel caps!

Used pin heads to simulate bolt heads.

Fuselage; shows some mistakes but liked how the pin heads look for the bolts.

You said you've been away from the hobby 40 years or 40 days? Great stuff!

It appears to be lightweight silkspan, the same used in all larger Guillows kits. If it were tissue it would have turned into mush when wet for covering.

I used the tissue that came with this Guillows kit and it does have a grain. I don't know if this is silkspan, do the current Guillows kits include silkspan or the same tissue as the vintage (30-year old) kits? Thanks for the compliments.

Yes, silkspan does have a grain and it does affect the shrinkage. You can sort of see it and a tear will sort of follow the grain. I've warped wings by not having the l\grain run the length of the wing. Jastazwei, it looks like a good fix to me. You sure do a nice smooth job of covering.

Very good problem solving. Outward appearance not changed, but now good and strong!

Great idea. Does silkspan have a grain associated with the paper. I know the polyspan I use does and the forces applied to the surface have a lot to do with direction of the grain.

Everyone, thank you for all the advice. I'm looking forward to my next model to incorporate your ideas.
