The country of Canada is bilingual - French and English. The huge province (state) of Quebec also has a gigantic Boreal forest with its own severe wild fire years. Quebec has 8.1 million of Canada's 35.1 million people. They have French as their own official language with the world's most severe and strict laws, especially with signage and workplace laws. Language politics are intensifying as big business moves out of Quebec and into Toronto Ontario. Quebec had an Independence Referendum vote in 1995 to become their own country, and lost by the slimmest of margins 50.58% to 49.42% |

The mighty "Red Tail" Hawaii Marten Mars water bomber. In severe forest fire years, the provinces of Canada regularly send their trained fire fighters and equipment to help other provinces in need (and send the bill later, of course). |

The Hawaii Mars ("Redtail") arrived at Lake Elsinore in southern California, on a private contract, to assist with firefighting efforts at the California wildfires of October 2007, and was was in service fighting the La Brea fire east of Santa Maria in Southern California in August of 2009. |

The behemoth, humongous, 200 foot wingspan, 4 man crew, Martin Mars water bomber, needs three miles of water in order to scoop up 7,200 gallons of water in 35 seconds according to the brochure. |

The little boat says "Ottawa" on the back, as in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada. |

The Martin Mars can scoop 7,200 US gallons of water (22,276 litres) - 30 tons of water in 25 seconds, and each drop covers 4 acres. |

MARTIN MARS - by 1963 there were only two A/C left. Today only one A/C is still in limited service, based out of Sproat Lake on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, just outside of Port Alberni. http://www.martinmars.com/aircraft.htm |

THE MIGHTY MARTIN MARS Air Tanker - The world's largest flying boat ever flown operationally - four engines and 7200 gallons water. Only 7 were built (introduced in 1943) for the US Navy. In 1959, the four remaining A/C were to be sold for scrap, but a Canadian Consortium of Forestry companies converted them to civilian use as firefighting water bombers, with many upgrades, including "Retractable pick-up Scoops". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_JRM_Mars |

WATER BOMBING THE HIGHWAY VEHICLE FIRE They don't fool around when there is a vehicle fire that is billowing up hot smoke and hot embers, and they sure do not want the ground fire to get to the bush at the side of the highway. Once the fire gets into all of that dry fuel of the forest, there is no stopping the fire - "POOF", and gone with the wind into a raging forest fire ... |
