You say that the difference caused by the addition isn't noticeable when finished unless you use calipers and I say it is noticeable without them. I believe in keeping a plane as close to scale as possible in all aspects. The main reason I build as I do instead of just sheeting everything is that it maintains the integrity of the scale and design of the plane. It also insures that fuselages, wings, and tail feathers don't look like they need to be on a weight loss program. Having been around planes most of my life has made me acutely aware when something on one doesn't look just right. And 40 years of painting has only reinforced that desire for things to look as they should unless I'm painting an abstract or the shed. |

I am not understanding you? |

As long as it doesn't "bother" you but I completely disagree with the conclusion. |

1/32 sheets for the dauntless |

DD..Sanded smooth but the 1/16 of an inch increase does not bother me and when finished is not noticed unless you use calipers! |

It appears you're using 1/16" balsa to sheet and that brings up this question. Did you sand the frame to accomodate the thickness of the sheeting? |

yeah i just built and paper coverd a guillows series 300 piper cub. i did not do bad for first model like this.On its way via ups i have a guillows series 1000 hellcat on its way, Cant wait to do something a little larger. im almost done with a series 300 cessna 170. I saw a model by poppy or someone but i cant find it again almost looks like he used filler or something on the larger plane like the hellcat. just trying to figure it out, Wanted mine to look like that. Or atleast try..lol |

There are a few ways to cover. The choice is usually dictated by the models purpose....flight or display. I prefer sheeting display models, others prefer planking. In this hobby there is something for every one. |

is that the only way to cover the models? Or is there a way to use filler or something else. Hello by the way i am new here and building my second model now. It just looks so much cleaner coverd like that. |

These arrived today. The book on the right is a wonderful resource for anyone building a SBD Dauntless. If I had this book before I built the pit, I would have included the back up filght contriols that the gunner could access. Wonderful book. |

You wanna stick my Bofors in the back seat? THAT would scare a Zero or two. |

The slow task of sheeting the fuse concludes for today. A necesary but tedious task.....rather make guns!!! |

Noted... but museum walk about photos also show thin leather cushions. |

The amount of detail you add is amazing, John! |

Looking real nice, John. On the full-size planes, the parachute acted as their padding. |

Padded seats...Only O Man would provide that comfort. |

Gave the gunner and pilot a bit of comfort. |
