This is also a form of planking although designed to be covered with tissue. The stringers are glued to pre-marked positions on the formers. The plans say to do this "in fill", if you will, to achieve a more scale like appearance. Works for me. I suggest checking out all the different methods seen on the site to see which might be more suited to achieving what you have in mind for your models. And yes, Lightweight Spackle will indeed work as a filler but I still prefer Hobbylite.
