Pilot is Lieutenant Paul "Penny" Lane. He likes to keep his F/A 18 clean. Very clean:-)

Top Gun used an F-5 as the enemy in a real situation. The Navy uses them as the aggressor aircraft in their training. I was actually surprised to learn that F-18s are now being used, as well, and some have been brought out of storage for the job. The Navy has only them and F-35s as far as I know for fighters. The Air Force has their own version of aggressors, using F-5s and F-16s with their versions of splinter schemes. There are quite a few different schemes in use.

the movie top gun has three different aircraft as friend and foe, f-14 " friend" and a-4 or f-5 "foe", does the f-18 have a different friend aircraft as an oppose to the aggressor?

It’s an aggressor, painted to look like a Russian aircraft.

Thanks for the Note, David, and sorry for the delay on the emails, Ed. Will get the XP-67 up there this coming weekend when I'm back home.

Thanks! I can see why flying your classic aircraft (It is a beautiful example) would pull your time away from other things like email. what a great way to be distracted! :)

Nice build Dave. Belated Birthday wishes. I was thinking about your meeting with James after knowing him for 15 yrs. It would really be fun to have a group reunion with show and tell. Maybe when this virus thing is over.

James is currently flying an Ercoupe with a friend to Washington, DC so he’s a bit busy. I’ll send him a note for you.

DD, is there a good contact to reach Mr. Good? I'm trying to get a new aircraft added to our list (McDonnell XP-67). I've emailed him several times using the email in the About/Help, but I'm not getting a response. Don't know if I'm sending it to the wrong place or not.
