I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Beautiful work pfinn. Agree with DD & Rayl.

A beautiful looking wing!

The ailerons were built per plan although I added the diagonal cross bracing. I enlarged the servo bays since I purchased just slightly larger servos (HS65 as apposed the recommended HS55) at the AMA show here in Southern California.

Pfinn, looks great. Never hurts to be on the cautious side and add a bit of reinforcement. The undersides of the ailerons are truly a work of art. Excellent way to clear them from the wings. Did this show on the plans? On the real aircraft? I remembered taking a bunch of photos of the replica that was on display at the EAA fly-in awhile back, but can't recall taking or viewing its undersides.

Yessiree, clean and tidy. It seems a shame to cover some bones up.

Such lovely work!

The wing is almost complete. I've added some radiussed(?) gussets to some joints that looked susceptible to breakage. And a couple just for looks.

Hey Brian. Still Flying....when I get a chance to!

pfinn, looks as though you've generated a lot of responses and attention. Kudos to you sir.

are you doing any flying phil?
Don C, Comment for image # 3539117 Jan 16 22:57
Kudos. Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Skyediamonds, I actually went through Art school and received a BS in Industrial Design. I did grow up working at my Father's aerospace machine shop for about 25yrs. I'm pretty awful at Mathematics so I'm probably not one of "Them" either Rayl! But after working my whole life with Engineers (not a bad thing, mind you) Common Sense is also just as valuable if not more in my point of view. Sorry, digressing again ;o). Thanks for the offer on the B2 pics, but I seeem to have quite a few myself! Thanks!

Must be nice to build models at work. A rarity nowadays. I was lucky to attend EAA convention many years ago and took several photos of the B-2. Let me know if you're interested.

pfinn, very impressive work. I can fully appreciate your efforts. I used to fly a Piper Cherokee (Dakota) and that particular model's handbook called for me to avoid specific rpms to avoid harmonic vibrations. Anything below or above it was fine. I take it you're an engineer? Rayl, you're one heck of an intelligent human being & great modeler. You're tackling a rare and difficult modeling project on the Loening with very impressive results, not to mention there are no kits of this type.

this was/is 17in.The blades are of off "Something Else" that I can't talk about. On this scale version we had to spin it up to 6700 rpm. We have a 24" cube vacuum chamber that we tested it in. Thant's a .0625" carbon rod supporting the top rotor. Needless to say, balancing the rotors was very important. Pretty scary because at every 1700 rpm or so the thing would start a harmonic vibration and would shake quite violently. We ended up just "punching through" that rpm too keep the vibration time short.

Impressive to say the least. [My favorite missive: "There is a lot of smart people out there, To bad I'm not one of them".] What is the rotor span of your creation.

This one, sorry, and "It flew" http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/video/details.php?id=1355
