The cut out pieces. |
Creosotewind, Image # 31796 | 13 Jun 14 13:41 |
I wanted to have a better detailed camera, so I had to cut out the wood brace and part of the molded in fuselage. |

Intake scoop epoxied to the fuselage. Several pieces of scrap wood filled the gaps. |

I needed to cut out another intake on the top of the scoop. I boxed it in with heavy card stock (an old business card.) Again, much use of the Dremel. |

The air intake needed to be cleaned out, opened up and a splitter added. The Dremel came in real handy on this project. |

The basic fuselage and wings on my desk. |

This would be an in-flight exhibit. First order was to patch a lot of holes and missing parts of the fuselage. I used some large pieces of basswood and epoxy to fill the gaps. This is also the cleanest my desk has been in a long time. |

This is a relatively accurate MQ-9 Drone ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) model. It has an 8'-2" wingspan. All fiberglas construction. |

Some of the reference images from my book. |

I did this project about two years ago for the Arizona Military Museum at Papago Park in Phoenix. They wanted a large scale model of a drone for their display. I gathered a lot of info on the internet for the MQ-9 Reaper and made a reference book to use during the build. |

Hello Brady,
I am sorry that this reply took so long. The plans come from many sources. This plan came with the model kit that Creosotewind sent me. Others come from three views or other kit plans that I revise |

To see another float plane model, go to this site: http://www.papirove-modely.cz/phpsource/full-image.php?showfoto=24092
Scroll down. The large looking egg is actually a Tic Tac candy. My eyes cross just looking at the photos. |

The upper left is a Brewster Barracuda, Vultee Vengence, Kate, P-51A in grey primer and a Ki-51. I am working on re-engineering the canopies from scribed lines (like the Brewster Buffalo) to another method. |

Hello James, no, the aluminum in the kit is very old and brittle. It reminds me of chewing gum wrappers of the 50's. I will paint the fuselage with aluminum paint as well as the floats. The flying surfaces will be painted yellow. A Naval aircraft paint scheme. |
