At least you have an old kit with the instructions in English. I have a '50s model kit for a U-control Ki-43, that I picked up at a garage sale, containing really superb fitting, milled, balsa, plywood, and hardwood parts but the detailed instructions are in Japanese. |

This kit was partially built when I received it. They used this glue to do the assembly as the parts were very easy to break apart. I'm using white glue this time. |

If care is taken, the wheels will turn and follow the towing arm. The gun elevates and rotates. |

A lot of the parts are just blocks and pieces of wood. Some are cut to shape, especially the barrel, wheels and parts for the axles. But there are a lot of rectangles and rods that leave you guessing. Following the instructions is pretty critical. |

Rogers was around in the 40s and maybe into the 50s. Their kits were primarily wood with other materials. From what I can determine (from what I've seen on eBay), they made an M-4 Sherman, the Bofors and an M-29c Weasel in 3/4" or 1/16 scale. They also made an LCI (Landing Craft Infantry) in 1/128 scale and an LST (Landing Ship Tank) in 1/285 scale. All are very nice kits. Lots of parts and detail, with lots of opportunity to add more detail. |

I have about 8 of these kits. I intend to build this one pretty stock, only minor changes by using wood instead of the cardboard. Some of the kits are missing parts, so I'm combining those to make this one. |

Still have lots of parts to add. But not bad for the week. |

The white "darts" on the legs were stakes to anchor the gun to the ground. I made them out of stiff paper. Once subassemblies are done, I will disassemble the linchpins and prime and paint. |

Parts in place. So far, so good. |

Top of the gun base. The flat part is where the loaders stand. The real platform has a lip that I duplicated with some stiff paper. |

Bottom of the base that the gun ultimately sits on. 1/8" wood dowels. I notched the pieces to better fit together. |

The gun elevates. And should rotate if I don't get glue on everything. |

The gun in place. One of the gun-mount brackets was missing so I duplicated the other one in basswood. |

Outriggers spread. |

Limit stops were glued to the underside to prevent too much movement. |
Creosotewind, Image # 15838 | 11 Jan 10 09:25 |
The outriggers pivot like on the real gun. |

I replaced the hinge parts. Originally they were diecut cardboard, but I was afraid they would disintegrate after a while. I cut them out of basswood. You can see an old piece on the round part of the frame. |
Creosotewind, Image # 15836 | 11 Jan 10 09:22 |
Start gluing the parts together and soon you will have a gun. |

The back side of the card. The glue has turned to powder. |
