I built one of these years ago but without the side stringers. It didn't fly very well but I intend to build another soon and I hope it will fly better. The side stringers are definitely a good idea. As you point out, Mustangs are not flat sided,although the curves are very subtle. The Comet Spitfire IX and P40 are also fun plans and on the to do list. In fact almost all the Comet kits are. It is a typical Comet kit with lack of instruction, leaving some building up to the imagination. I added the motor mount that is not on the plans, also added a functioning nose block. Comet does not have much detail about the nose block area. The nose former has 2 slots on each side for side stringers but the plans do not show where these stringers go. I remember building this kit when I was younger and being told it has side stringers, besides I don't think Mustangs have a flat side. The landing gear will once again be plug in gear so I can fly without the landing gear. All stringers that have curves were soaked in water and then pre bent before gluing into place. This guarantees the fuselage will not warp. So far the weight is 10 grams. BillParker, Comment for image # 18418 27 Jun 10 18:06 I have this one is stock...
