I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Trotro, this finish is done with Hobbylite balsa filler, and micro-fill purchased at hobby shop. Painters Touch white sanding sealer from Home Depot.

SM...Now I think it is clear to me they are shocks filled with margarine....maybe Blue Bonnet!!

I had to look up "oleo" recently when I first saw someone here use the word. From Wikipedia I get "In aircraft landing gear air dashpots may be combined with hydraulic damping to reduce bounce. Such struts are called oleo struts (combining oil and air)" They cite this page as the reference.

Learned modelists...Are oleos shocks? If so why are they called oleos? I know very little about airplane jargon.

Moos, it is a solid block, just not yet drilled. After removing ribs and stringers I will use sheet styrene to construct wells.

Not to worry, a piece of balsa and Microfill.

Is that a solid block to accept the oleos? Smart. When I constructed my wheelwells, I framed them first then sheeted not adjusting for the connection. Had to add later thus shortening the opening a 1/4". Wrote it off to a learning experience. This looks great.

Looking good Poppy!

Wheel wells ready for some work.

Fin was flat on right side to compensate for torque of engine.
poppy, Image # 619929 Jan 08 12:19

Fin and rudder patterns just about right.

Thanks for the info. Jim

When it comes to R/C, you have two methods you can use for roll-control. Rudder-only control, where you use the rudder to kick a wing down, and then rely on the dihedral to help bring everything back to level once you're finished turning. Try rudder only controls with no dihedral, and it would be very squirly! You can also add ailerons, but from my experience, at the slow speeds that smaller, lighter aircraft fly at, ailerons can be less effective due to the lack of air moving over their relatively small size. I guess rudders have propeller slipstream moving over them, so they are more effective at the slow speeds... The ailerons are not particularly effective on my Guillows Dr.1. It could have benefitted from dihedral, but I didn't want to upset the scale looks...

For rubber flying models, more dihedral is best. Some electric flyers need more than scale models. A scale dihedral works best if you are flying glow plug engines with plenty of displacement for the model size.

Poppy, (or anyone else) What does the dihedral do for flyability? I know that some full size planes have very little, yet scale flying models often need an exaggerated amount to fully function.

1 1/8" dihedral added at rib F10.
poppy, Image # 616728 Jan 08 19:14

That's better.
poppy, Image # 616628 Jan 08 19:05

Everything sanded to shape and 1st coat of primer on wing. Beginning to look like something.
poppy, Image # 616528 Jan 08 19:03

Wings sheeted and tips added.

Bingo. A straight on shot. Will use the bottom photo with the posture-pedic pillow for the bombadier. Off course more color will be added for switches and light, etc. Even with all the books and searches I found, all photos were taken from the side or incomplete somehow.. Thanks Poppy, I owe you one. This will more than fit the bill. Now where exactly does that map box go. Hmmmmm
